Treeplanting
While deforestation is a major issue, what about those who replant the planet? Every year in May, thousands of young Canadians travel to Northern Quebec for what they call "treeplanting". Almost all of them are students from the big cities who come for a summer of physical and mental challenge in the middle of nature. They will plant at least 2000 trees per day, between 9 and 30 cents. The best can aim for 5000 trees per day. Canada is an example in the responsible management of forests with the prohibition of clear-cutting at the expense of regenerative cutting and especially with a mandatory reforestation.
Those photos show my day to day reality as a treeplanting crew boss supervising 15 planters. For 5 years now, I am working along with David, my team mate how also manage 15 planters.

Si la déforestation est un enjeu majeur, qu'en est-il de ceux qui replantent la planète ? Chaque année, au mois de mai, des milliers de jeunes Canadiens se rendent dans le Nord du Québec pour ce qu'ils appellent "le tree planting". Ce sont presque tous des étudiants des grandes villes, qui viennent passer un été de défi physique et mental en pleine nature. Ils planteront au moins 2000 arbres par jour, entre 9 et 30 cents. Les meilleurs peuvent viser les 5000 arbres par jour. Le Canada est un exemple dans la gestion responsable des forêts avec l'interdiction de la coupe à blanc au détriment de la coupe régénératrice et surtout avec un reboisement obligatoire.
Ces photos montrent ma réalité quotidienne en tant que chef d'équipe d'un camp forestier supervisant 15 planteurs. Depuis 5 ans, je travaille aux côtés de David, mon coéquipier également contre maître gérant 15 planteurs.
